Some Netizens Criticized “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” For Story Allegedly Resembling A Real-Life Political Figure, ENA Responds

ENA has responded to the speculations that “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” most recent episode resembled the story of a real-life political figure.

“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” episode 12 told the story of a lawsuit between an insurance company and married couples working a the company, their wives were being targeted for dismissals under the excuse of ‘employee restructuring.’

The character of lawyer Ryu Jae Sook represented the insurance’s company’s female employees. After watching the episode, some netizens alleged that character of Ryu Jae Sook reminded them of Park Won Soon, a former mayor of Seoul who worked as a lawyer before his mayoral campaign.

Park Won Soon even won Korea’s first sexual harassment conviction but was accused of sexual harassment by his longtime secretary. He ended up committing suicide.

Due to the speculations, ENA said the episode is based from their case book and is unrelated to any particular person, they asked for people to refrain from over-interpreting and speculating.

“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” will air its final two episodes on August 17 and 18 at 9 p.m. KST.
