“Doctor Cha” Actress Myung Se Bin Explains Why She Was Excited To Take On The Villain Role In The Hit Drama
Actress Myung Se Bin expressed satisfaction with the recent character she played in “Doctor Cha“!
Recently, Myung Se Bin conducted an end-of-drama interview for the hit JTBC weekend drama.
Myung Se Bin portrayed the role of Choi Seung-hee, who had an extramarital affair with Seo In-ho (played by Kim Byung Chul), the husband of Cha Jung-sook (played by Uhm Jung Hwa). She broke away from her innocent and pitiful image with her role as the ‘adulteress’ Choi Seung-hee.
Myung Se Bin laughed and said, “The response has been good as I challenge myself with a new character. Some people responded positively to the transformation and some asked why I took on such a character, feeling sorry for me.”

Myung Se Bin also discussed the ending and said, “I’m satisfied with the ending. Both Jung-sook and Seung-hee have gone through their own growth at the crossroads of choices.”
Myung Se Bin, who had a strong thirst for a different character before this project, said, “Actually, I wanted to try this kind of character for a long time. How long can I continue playing innocent and pitiful characters? As an actress, I wanted to take on various roles. It was great to be given such an opportunity. When I received the script, I shouted ‘Hooray!'” She also revealed, “Director Kim Dae-jin was worried if I could handle playing the ‘adulteress’. But once I started acting, it felt refreshing because it was something different from what I had done before.”
Having succeeded in her transformation, Myung Se Bin became even more ambitious. She said, “I want to play a slightly more villainous character and show a cunning and sophisticated villain who appears timid on the surface but attacks from behind. I also have a dream of doing a deep melodrama.”
With the success of the drama, more people have started recognizing her. Myung Se Bin, “Young friends recognized me and were surprised. I didn’t even wear makeup and went to buy a hat, but they said, ‘Could it be you?’ I took off the hat I was wearing, and when I put on the new hat, they were surprised. They welcomed me so warmly. It’s fascinating to receive reactions as if it’s my heyday rather than just realizing the popularity.”
