The newly unveiled Disney+ series ‘Moving‘ is effectively playing the role of a savior for Disney+ as it navigates through a sluggish phase.

‘Moving,’ based on the webtoon of the same name by Kang Pool, features actors Ryu Seung Ryong, Jo In Sung, Han Hyo Joo, Cha Tae Hyun, and Ryu Seung Bum among others. Since its debut on Disney+ in Korea, it has been highly anticipated. The original creator, Kang Pool, personally wrote the screenplay, and director Park In-je, known for directing the Netflix original series ‘Kingdom 2,’ is at the helm.

According to data from the mobile index platform, Mobile Index, after Disney+ released the 7th episode, featuring child actors in ‘Moving,’ the daily usage of the Disney+ app exceeded 300,000 users on the 9th day of release. From the 9th to the 11th, the average daily usage of Disney+ was counted at 318,658 users. This is the first time that the daily usage of Disney+ has exceeded 300,000 users since March 23rd (354,407 users), around the time when the last episode of the drama ‘Casino’ was released.

Its global performance is not bad either. According to the OTT content viewing ranking site FlixPatrol, ‘Moving’ ranked 21st in the Disney+ Worldwide TV Show category. It secured the 1st place position in four Asian countries including Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore. While not a blockbuster success, it is considered a visible achievement compared to Disney+’s previous content, which didn’t yield significant profits.

‘Moving’ condensed the original webtoon, which spans 45 episodes, into 20 episodes. As a drama with a 20-episode structure, which is quite long these days, it has been criticized for its slow progression, but it also boasts an impressive depth of immersion.
