Composer Of “Love Next Door” OST Refutes Plagiarism Accusations Raised By Popular Singer
After Singer Baek Yerin raised plagiarism allegations regarding the tvN weekend drama “Love Next Door” OST “What are We,” sung by Ha Sung Woon, the composer has refuted the claims.
On the 4th of October, Y Min Soo (real name Yoon Min Soo), the composer of “What are We,” took to social media to address the controversy, saying, “I sincerely apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable after hearing the song, to the drama staff, and to Ha Sung Woon, who sang the song.”
However, he emphasized, “I want to make it clear that while working on ‘What are We,’ I did not reference Baek Yerin’s ‘0310’ at all. To be sure, I carefully analyzed both songs to check for any similarities. After a detailed analysis of the melodies, there are no identical parts.”
The photos he shared included sheet music, comparing the chords, melody, and progression of “What are We” and Baek Yerin’s “0310.”
Y Min Soo further commented, “As a rookie composer, getting involved in plagiarism allegations is a deeply terrifying label. I want to clearly state again that I did not copy ‘0310’ while working on this song.”
Earlier that day, Baek Yerin shared the music video of What are We on her social media, publicly calling out the song by writing, “It must suck copying, feel bad. If you want a song like mine, please ask me so.”
In response, Ha Sung Woon’s agency, Big Planet Made, stated, “Ha Sung Woon has no involvement in the plagiarism controversy,” and clarified that Ha Sung Woon participated solely as a vocalist at the request of the drama’s OST production team.
