MBC has confirmed that the drama ‘Black Out’ starring Byun Yo Han, Ko Jun, Go Bo Gyeol, and Kim Bo Ra will air as the next Friday-Saturday drama in August.

‘Black Out’ is a drama adaptation of Nelie Noihaus’s mega-hit novel ‘To Snow White, With Death’. It is a crime thriller that traces back the truth of the day ten years ago when a young man, who became a convicted murderer as the culprit of a mysterious unsolved murder case, reveals the process of investigation.

In the drama, Byun Yo Han plays the role of Go Jeong Woo, a 19-year-old high school student who is arrested as a suspect for murdering two female classmates in the same class. Jeong Woo was on the verge of being accepted into a prestigious medical school when he was accused of being the culprit of a murder case with no memories. After serving 10 years in prison, he tries to start a new life leaving his hometown, but he cannot leave due to strange incidents happening around him.

Another protagonist, Ko Jun, takes on the role of the detective No Sang Cheol, who is in charge of the case related to Jeong Woo. Sang Cheol was an elite detective with high expectations as he graduated at the top of the police academy. However, on his wedding day, his bride is brutally murdered, leading to the destruction of his life and career, and he is demoted to a local police station. However, he becomes involved with Jeong Woo as he re-investigates the case.

Go Bo Gyeol plays the role of Choi Na Gyeom, Jeong Woo’s high school classmate and a top star. Na Gyeom has been secretly in love with Jeong Woo for a long time and devotes herself to him while he is in prison for 10 years, dreaming of a happy life with him after his release.

Kim Bo Ra meets viewers as Ha Seol, who drops out of medical school and works as a part-time restaurant employee in the fictional town of Mucheon, where the incident takes place.

The script for the drama is written by Seo Joo Yeon, who also wrote ‘Save Me 2’, and the director is Byeon Young Joo, known for movies like ‘Train’ and the ‘Whispering Corridors’ series. ‘Black Out’ received an invitation to the non-competition section at the 7th Cannes International Series Festival held in April.

An MBC drama official expressed strong confidence in the drama, saying, “‘Black Out’ tells the story of residents of a closed-off rural town who reveal their hidden wicked nature surrounding a murder case, which is more than family. It is a work that captures the ambivalence of human nature with sensory directing and a solid story, and as the episodes progress, we expect to provide strong resonance to viewers through successive reversals.”

The next Friday-Saturday drama ‘Black Out’, starring Byun Yo Han, Ko Jun, Go Bo Gyeol, and Kim Bo Ra, is scheduled to air on MBC in August.
