Actress Ahn Eun Jin discussed her collaboration with Lee Do Hyun for the drama ” The Good Bad Mother.”

On the 9th, Ahn Eun Jin met with OSEN at a café in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, to share her thoughts on her portrayal of Lee Mi-ju in the recently concluded JTBC Thursday drama “The Good Bad Mother.”

“The Good Bad Mother” is a heartwarming comedy that follows the story of Jin Young-soon (played by Ra Mi Ran), a mother who becomes a “bad mother” out of necessity for the sake of her children, and her son Choi Kang-ho (played by Lee Do Hyun), who finds the lost happiness by becoming a child himself. The drama started with a viewer rating of 3.6% (based on Nielsen Korea) and consistently climbed, eventually reaching its highest rating of 12.0% upon its conclusion.

Ahn Eun Jin portrayed the character of Lee Mi-ju, who is Kang-ho’s longtime friend and only refuge in the drama. With her complex inner world, Lee Mi-ju is a courageous individual who cannot tolerate injustice. After losing everything, she returns to her hometown and reunites with the transformed Choi Kang-ho. Ahn Eun Jin’s exceptional acting skills and unique charm once again shone brightly, earning the unwavering trust of the audience.

When asked about her collaboration with Lee Do Hyun, Ahn Eun Jin expressed her admiration, saying, “I really enjoyed watching Lee Do Hyun’s performance. I was a fan of ‘Youth of May,’ and I thought he acted brilliantly and looked very cool. Rather than just emitting energy that reaches through the screen, it felt like we were constantly engaged in meaningful conversations. I could sense that he was an actor who constantly gives to his co-stars. He had the ability to infuse the same energy into every scene, which made him a great actor to work with. We had numerous discussions and exchanged ideas while breathing together on set. During challenging moments, we motivated each other and became each other’s sources of inspiration. That’s how we approached our scenes. We put in a lot of effort to capture the beauty of the past scenes. We believed that the past should be portrayed in a lovely and enchanting way to garner support from the audience. These scenes were not plentiful, but we wanted people to perceive them in an appealing manner. We exchanged many ideas and created an atmosphere of intimacy that was evident on screen. From the past scenes, the couple received encouragement, and as they transitioned to reality, their support grew stronger.”

Ahn Eun Jin continued, “While ‘The Glory’ had its own story, ‘The Good Bad Mother’ also had its unique narrative. I contemplated how to portray it in the most beautiful way possible. Unexpectedly, I received an abundance of love from the viewers. Their affection became a source of strength for me. Lee Do Hyun possesses an energy that ignites chemistry wherever he goes.”

Regarding the numerous kissing scenes, Ahn Eun Jin shared, “There were many kissing scenes. Looking back, I think most couples go through that. We followed the script, but there were also spontaneous additions. Our characters had been together for a long time and shared a living space, which naturally created an atmosphere of intimacy. Rather than aiming for an awkward and cute dynamic that induces butterflies, we wanted to depict a natural form of physical affection where touch and anticipation felt genuine.”

She also laughed and commented about Lim Ji Yeon, who is Lee Do Hyun’s real-life girlfriend and also her senior at school, saying, “Despite the many kissing scenes and physical affection, I didn’t receive any calls from her.”

  1. Glad the editor took note of the translation issues and corrected the last paragraph. Still there would’ve been nothing wrong with publishing my comment instead of moderating & rejecting it. Sharing accurate news translations is not a criticism, just providing feedback.
