Actor Ji Soo Hints At Launching His Acting Career Post-School-Bullying Accusations, Will He Be Able To Come Back?
Ji Soo, who stepped down from the drama “River Where the Moon Rises” due to school bullying controversy, appeared in a YouTube video, hinting at a comeback. It’s been four years since he went into self-reflection.
Recently, Ji Soo uploaded a video titled “Actor Kim Ji Soo Jisoo Road 2 Movie Vlog EP.01 The End of Tunnel” on his channel.
In the video, Ji Soo shared his feelings about standing in front of the public for the first time in about four years, talked about the school bullying controversy, and mentioned his future activities, suggesting a comeback. The fact that he specified “actor” in the title and indicated that it’s an “Episode 1,” implying a series, is enough to see it as a preview of his return.
In the video, Ji Soo, who embarked on a solo train trip, said, “It’s been almost four years. Four years ago, I went on a trip alone and now I’ve finally returned. During those four years, a lot of things happened. I also served in the military, and I cleared up misunderstandings with friends who had bad issues. Now I plan to slowly start again.”
He also expressed his feelings, saying, “On the way back after the trip, I had to go through a dark tunnel. The world was moving fast, but I looked like I was standing still reflected in the window.”
At Hyehwa Station, Ji Soo said, “In the past, I auditioned and lived in a theater company in Daehak-ro. Hyehwa is one of the places filled with my memories. I love both theater and musical stages. Moreover, I also want to try making short films,” adding, “During my time in public service, I studied English a lot. If given the chance, I’d like to challenge myself with an English-speaking project and English acting,” revealing his ambition to become a global star.
However, whether Ji Soo will be welcomed back by the public remains uncertain. In March 2021, Ji Soo was at the center of controversy when school bullying allegations were raised on an online community.
At the time, Ji Soo apologized with a handwritten letter, saying, “I sincerely apologize to those who suffered because of me. There are no excuses for the wrongdoings I committed in the past. They were actions that cannot be forgiven,” and then stepped down from the KBS2 drama “River Where the Moon Rises,” which he was starring in at the time.
At that time, “River Where the Moon Rises” had finished filming up to 18 out of 20 episodes, and Ji Soo’s scenes had already been aired up to the 6th episode. Since reshooting was inevitable, Victory Contents replaced the lead actor with Na In Woo and re-filmed all the episodes.
Afterward, Victory Contents filed a 3 billion won lawsuit against Ji Soo’s former agency KeyEast for the additional production costs incurred due to the lead actor change.
On the 25th of last month, the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Division 31 ruled partially in favor of the plaintiff in the damage compensation lawsuit filed by the drama production company Victory Contents against KeyEast, ordering the defendant to pay the plaintiff about 1.42 billion won plus delayed interest.
Whether Ji Soo will be able to perform on stage as he wishes and act to his heart’s content is drawing public attention.
Do you think Ji Soo will be able to make a comeback?
