2PM’s Taecyeon And Kim Hye Yoon will be leading the upcoming tvN drama “The Secret Royal Inspector and Jo Yi”!

The upcoming historical drama will be a comedy investigation drama about a young gourmet who ends up becoming a secret royal inspector, he teams up with a divorced woman who is searching for happiness. Together, they attempt to uncover the truth.

Taecyeon will be playing the secret royal inspector Ra Yi Eon, his dream is to open a small dumpling store outside the capital where the land is cheap. Since he has good brains, he’s able to pass the stat exam and secure a spot as an official in the Office of Special Advisors- a position usually held by the elite. He ends up uncovering secrets and carrying out missions. He’s a lazy homebody who changed when he meets Kim Jo Yi.

Kim Hye Yoon takes on the role of Kim Jo Yi, a woman who thinks divorce isn’t a big deal. After getting married to a gambling addict and a mama’s boy, she led a terrible married life and ultimately divorced the man. After that, she meets another obstacle, the appearance of a secret royal inspector. The moment it appears as if her life was crushed, her new life has only began.

“The Secret Royal Inspector and Jo Yi” will be directed by Yoo Jong Sun who worked on “Designated Survivor: 60 Days” and “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim.” It will be written by screenwriter Lee Jae Yoon of “The Undateables” and “Tamra the Island.”

“The Secret Royal Inspector and Jo Yi” is slated to premiere some time in the second half of 2021.

My personal thoughts- by Jass K.

I never expected to see Taecyeon take on a historical drama role… It will be interesting to see what he does with his role.

The idea is different and the fact that it includes a divorced woman is rare, I have never seen that before in a historical kdrama so that’s interesting.

I am not gonna lie, I am surprised the lead male role isn’t a prince or a king this time, but more of a commoner so to speak.

When I saw that the script will be written by Lee Jae Yoon of “The Undateables”, I admit I am slightly worried, we all know how that drama was received.

However, I trust Kim Hye Yoon has picked an interesting project. Wish them the best of luck!
