BTOB’s leader Eunkwang has addressed the recent controversy at their concert.

The controversy came to be on January 23 during BTOB 4U’s live online,  Changsub looked into the camera and held up seven fingers, Peniel also did the same and the two also held up seven fingers for a photo after wrapping up.

The OT7 signal upset some fans who believed that Changsub shouldn’t have done this because it’s bad PR for his group, others interpreted this as Changsub showing support to Ilhoon despite the damage he’s done to his group with his controversy.

This comes after Ilhoon announced his departure from BTOB after it was reported that he was under investigation for habitual marijuana use [four to five years according to police reports], the news came as a huge shock to fans especially considering BTOB’s image.

Changsub has already addressed the backlash but was still criticized for his response. On January 27, Eunkwang personally apologized in an instagram post, he wrote,

“Hello! It hasn’t been long since the incident happened but I think we’ve hurt you again. As the leader of the team and as Seo Eunkwang, I wanted to show you how I feel right now so I am writing this.

First of all, to those who have been hurt by what we’ve done and what we’ve said at this concert,
I want to sincerely apologize. I am even more sorry because I understand very well now that
everyone wanted to watch the concert did so with a scar that hasn’t healed yet.

In fact, I believed that if I smiled silently and worked hard it would be gradually getting dull, and maybe would become okay, but the moment ‘our concert’ appeared, I had a lot of thoughts as many emotions came up.

And when I said, “BTOB will last forever,” I said that with tears in my eyes. I’ll take responsibility until the very end and will always do my best to the current BTOB.

Until November, when the whole group of the six of us makes a full group, and until we can smile while seeing each other, I’ll do my best to sing while hoping we’ll work hard to continue together so we can be happy by becoming each other’s strength.

As always, Melody! I sincerely thank you and love you.”

What do you think of this?

  1. He did not have to apologize at the first place. Their feelings are valid. They just want to let us know that BTOB will always be seven no matter what. Why the toxic fans are so triggered? Are you satisfied now that they apologize?
