“Running Man” has just received a warning from the Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCSC).

Recently, the show received a warning from the KCSC for excessive PPL [product placement]. During the most recent session held by the commission, this decision was reached. The show received a warning for excessive indirect advertising through the cast conversations and subtitles which in turn interfered with the show’s flow. The show was called out for specifically mentioning the company names and product names both in subtitles and vocally.

In South Korea, laws exist to protect viewers from subtle excessive advertisements and broadcasting stations must adhere to those rules.

Do you think “Running Man” deserved the warning?
