“Produce 101 Season 2” Contestant Lee Ji Han has passed away.

According to an exclusive report by TV report, it was revealed that Lee Ji Han passed away during the tragedy of Itaewon that happened on October 29. Lee Ji Han was only 24 years old.

Former “Produce 101 Season 2” contestants Park Hee Seok and Kim Do Hyun posted about it on their social media morning the loss of the young man.

Later, a source from his agency 935 Entertainment confirmed the news stating, “its true that Lee Ji Han died during the Itaewon accident on October 29.” The agency also expressed their shock at learning the news as they had hoped it wasn’t true when they first heard it, they’re extremely shocked and saddened by the news. They also stated his family is in great sorrow following his death.

Lee Ji Han was a contestant on the hit show “Produce 101 Season 2” and was eliminated after ranking at no. 98. He has been active as an actor ever since his appearance on the show.

As previously reported, at least 151 people died in relation to the crowd surge incident that happened in Itaewon on October 29. More than 100,000 people gathered in Itaewon to celebrate the Halloween weekend on October 29, and due to a suspected overcrowding surge, many began to faint and many people died as a result of the incident.

The Prime minister of South Korea has since announced a national mourning period until November 5. Flags will be hoisted, and public officials and institution employees will wear ribbons. All non-urgent events will also be postponed as a result.

Following the news, EXO’s Chen postponed his upcoming album release, SM canceled its annual Halloween party and Jaejoong canceled his Japanese concerts hours before it was supposed to begin out of respect. Later, many variety shows canceled their broadcast as well as upcoming concerts and festivals either postponing or canceling altogether.
