Kdrama “May I Help You?” premiered last night, here is what I thought about the premiere of the drama.

Note: this article is a first-impression review, it doesn’t mean this is the writer’s final thoughts on the drama. This is a spoiler review.

The combination of Hyeri and Lee Jun-Young was definitely the thing that piqued my interest at first.

Generally speaking, I find fantasy kdramas to be nice. I think many kdrama fans share a similar opinion. The vibe they have is often so uniquely theirs. “May I Help You?” retains that vibe but with less focus on the fantasy part thus far, I am assuming this part will be discussed more in coming episodes. I found this approach to be interesting.

“May I Help You?” is written by Lee Sun-Hye who most notably wrote the hit tvN drama “1997.” She hasn’t done many scripts and this is her 3rd kdrama overall as the main writer. I don’t have much to base on of off but I like what I have seen thus far.

I found “May I Help You?” to be cute. It had a fun premiere that didn’t seem to go above and beyond trying so hard to establish the characters through lame introductions, focusing instead on showcasing exactly what these characters are and what they do.

There is a lot of room for good subjects to discuss with such a format and its not easy to run out of ideas as well too if you play your cards right. But still, even with this in mind, I feel that 16 episodes are a bit too long for it. This is an MBC drama so it is to be expected.

Thus far, the chemistry between Hyeri and Lee Jun-Young is average at best. I think there is a lot of room for improvement there, especially since its seems like the screenwriter is not focusing on establishing a romance between them so quickly, which I also liked.

Hyeri seems to be a lot more composed with this role which I found to be a nice shift, I also liked Lee Jun-Young’s performance, he’s immensely underrated and I am glad he’s been gaining some momentum recently. I hope this drama does well.

I feel like this drama will make us cry a lot with each episode, its going to be one of those calming dramas, so I don’t really expect any ‘action’ to happen and I am okay with that.

I think whoever chooses to watch this will likely enjoy it as long as they didn’t expect something out of this world. The premiere was exactly what I expected it to be, a nice premiere.

This drama will be a cute change of pace from some other heavier currently airing kdramas too.

So these are my thoughts on M”ay I Help You?”, so what about you guys? did you like the episodes? let me know what you thought in the comment section below.
