KCON 2022 Saudi Arabia has unveiled its lineup!
CJ ENM’s K-Culture Festival “KCON” will enter the Middle East after the U.S. “KCON” has been successfully completed by gathering 7.17 million K-POP fans around the world through online and offline simultaneous hosting in LA in August, and will continue the festival in Saudi Arabia in September.
CJ ENM announced that it will hold the “KCON 2022 SAUDI ARABIA” at Boulevard Riyadh City, the largest entertainment complex located in the Saudi capital, for two days on September 30 and October 1. This is the first time that KCON will be held in Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia is a country of youngsters with half of the population in their 30s or less, and K-POP is highly popular online, especially among young age groups. In addition, the Saudi Arabian government presented “Saudi Vision 2030,” which aims to foster high-value-added industries such as culture and tourism, and selected Korea as one of the strategic partners of Vision 2030. In addition, since it is located in an area connecting Asia, Africa, and Europe, it has the advantage of being able to expect a rapid expansion of K-culture to the continent of other nearby languages. Earlier in June, CJ ENM signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Culture of Saudi Arabia to promote cultural exchanges in various fields such as music, film, and cultural heritage.
CJ ENM confirmed the hosting of ‘KCON 2022 SAUDI ARABIA’ and also unveiled the show lineup. The lineup includes k-pop artists such as ATEEZ, Hyolin, NewJeans, ONEUS, P1Harmony, PENTAGON, Rain, SECRET NUMBER, STAYC, SUNMI, THE BOYZ. As it is the first KCON to be held in Saudi Arabia, it is intended to create a festival that the entire world enjoys together with K-POP’s past, present, and future lineup, from legendary artists who have shone on KCON over the past decade to fourth-generation rising stars.
Kim Dong Hyun, the head of CJ ENM’s Convention Live division said, “We are confident that KCON has played a major role in K-culture globalization with remarkable results in Asia and North America, especially in the U.S. and Japan, which have the world’s largest entertainment market over the past decade.”
Meanwhile, KCON is the world’s largest K-culture festival that combines concerts by K-POP artists and conventions to experience K-lifestyle. Since its first introduction in 2012, the festival has served as a bridge to the spread of K-culture in Latin America, Europe, and Oceania as well as America and Japan.
This year, the “KCON 2022 Premiere” was held in Korea, Japan, and the United States in May, and “KCON 2022 LA” was held in LA in August. In the second half of the year, the KCON 2022 SAUDI ARABIA will be held for two days from September 30th, followed by the KCON 2022 JAPAN at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan, for three days from October 14 to October 16.
