SBS’ new drama “The Devil ” is a supernatural mystery thriller that digs into the mysterious death surrounding five bodies by a woman and a man who can see evil spirits in another world with evil spirits.
Writer Kim Eun Hee, a master of genres that ensures box office success and an accomplished work with a thorough story that is perfectly organized for each work she writes, such as “Sign,” “Ghost,” “Signal,” and “Kingdom,” has attracted attention by joining hands with SBS for the first time in about nine years after drama “Three Days,” which ended in 2014. On top of that, actors such as Kim Tae Ri, Oh Jung Se, and Hong Kyung, who guarantee promising acting, were cast, and the saying ‘trusting to watch” has been attached since the lineup was confirmed.
First of all, Kim Tae Ri, who presents a wide range of acting, plays the role of ‘Koo San Young’, a civil servant test taker student. Koo San Young, who has been working part-time during the day, studying at night, and preparing for the ninth-grade civil service exam for N years, finds herself getting caught up in mysterious deaths that keep happening around her since she received her father’s legacy.
The production team said, “Koo San Young is a complex character with a mixture of good and evil sides. We couldn’t think of any other actor than Kim Tae Ri, who had better acting skills than anyone else, but sometimes showed strong charisma. Above all, we expect Kim Tae Ri’s solid and bold acting skills to give wings to the work.”
The news of her casting, who led to a box office success with her outstanding acting skills in each drama, including the drama “Mr. Sunshine” and “Twenty-five Twenty-one,” already makes us look forward to the first broadcast of the drama “The Devil.”
Oh Jung Se will take on the role of Yeom Hae Sang, a professor of folklore from a wealthy family. Yeom Hae Sang, who has eyes that allow him to see the dead, gets to know Koo San Young through an unexpected incident and encounters the evil spirit who killed his mother in front of his eyes again when he was a kid.
Oh Jung Se, who plays Yeom Hae Sang with special abilities, will portray an extraordinary person with stable acting skills and detailed emotional acting.
The production team said, “He will raise the immersion of the work and give drama a sense of depth with his outstanding character performance.” Expectations are high on what kind of “living character” Oh Jung Se, who has built his own characters in each work, including “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” “Stove League,” and “Uncle,” will create this time.
Finally, Hong Kyung, who is showcasing his acting potential in various works one by one, will appear as Lee Hong Sae, a former senior police officer. Lee Hong Sae, who lives on his pride, only aimed at special promotion, but became involved with the above two characters, Koo San Young and Yeom Hae Sang, and became involved in events that will be unbelievable.
Meanwhile, “The Devil” will begin production with the goal of airing in 2023.
