MBC’s new fantasy drama “Ildangbaek Butler” (literal title) has unveiled its official cast.
On August 31, MBC introduced the main and supporting cast members of the upcoming drama, they are: Hyeri, Lee Jun Young, Song Duk Ho, Han Dong Hee, Tae In Ho, Lee Kyu Han, and Oh Dae Hwan.
“Ildangbaek Butler” tells the story of a butler named Kim, he runs errands at the cost of 100 won (approximately 10 cents) per job, and a funeral director named Baek Dong Joo, who grants the wishes of the dead. Both operate an errand-running business called Ildangbaek [which translates to one person doing work for 100 won].
Hyeri will take on the role of Baek Dong Joo, the funeral director who helps the wishes of the dead come true. She can communicate with them, unless the dead’s wishes are fulfilled, she’ll spend a whole day with no luck.
Lee Jun Young will play Butler Kim, the only employee and the ace who runs the service. He has unexpected charms. Whatever the customer wants, he will run and help them with. He gets entangled with Baek Dong Joo and starts working together on a project that transcends life and death.
Song Duk Ho will take on the role of Seo Hae Ahn, a police officer who has unwavering love for Baek Dong Joo. Han Dong Hee will play Tak Chung Ha, she is a resident majoring in emergency medicine, she’s also Butler Kim’s ex-girlfriend. She believed Butler Kim would love her for the rest of his life but he turns into another person and her minds begin to waver.
Tae In Ho will take on the role of Im Il Seop, Baek Dong Joo’s senior manager. He is known for being qualified at his job and focuses on getting No. 1 in satisfaction by the bereaved families. Behind his kind face hide deep wounds.
Lee Kyu Han will play the role of Vincent, he is the youngest and the troubled maternal uncle of Butler Kim and the CEO of Ildangbaek. He studied for the bar exam for 15 years but when a fortune teller told him he has no luck getting a job in the public sector, he gave up on studying and decided to run the business Ildangbaek. Oh Dae Hwan will play the role of Michael, Baek Dong Joo’s maternal uncle and the chief priest of a cathedral in Bongsu Neighborhood. He is the only one who knows about his nephew’s special abilities.
“Ildangbaek Butler” will be helmed by director Shim So Yeon, who worked on “Here’s My Plan” and “Welcome 2 Life,” and writer Lee Seon Hye, who participated in the “Reply” series (“Reply 1997,” “Reply 1994,” and “Reply 1988”) and wrote “20th Century Boy and Girl.”
A premiere date is set for October of this year.
