An update on Kris Wu is out!
According to Xinhua News Agency, Kris Wu’s trial was held at the Beijing Chaoyang District People’s Court on June 10th local time. Kris Wu is being charged with rape and group licentiousness. This means he could serve between three to ten years in jail.
Kris Wu’s trial will not be open to the public in order to protect the victim’s privacy. The court is said to be giving the final sentence in the near future.
Generally speaking, rape crimes in China face a sentence between three to ten years. Kris Wu is also being charged with Group licentiousness, which means anyone over 16 years old who organizes or frequently participates in group sex. He faces up to five years in jail for those charges.
Previously, on July 31st of 2021, Kris Wu was arrested for further investigation of his sexual assault allegations. He was accused of repeated sexual assault, pedophilia, and more. The allegations were brought about by a woman named Du Meizhu. He has denied all involvement and all the allegations made against him but the backlash against him didn’t subside, and despite his denial statement, more victims came forward with their own stories sharing screenshots and more. On August 16 of the same year, Beijing Chaoyang Prosecutor’s Office approved the arrest of the mega pop star Kris Wu on rape charges.
