Lee Seung Gi has personally stepped up to address his relationship and breakup rumors with girlfriend Lee Da In.
In May of last year, it was confirmed that Lee Da In and Lee Seung Gi were dating. Since then, there have been times when the two were rumored to have broken up. This was fueled by many of Lee Seung Gi’s fans opposing his relationship to Lee Da In due to her family’s past.
On June 5, Lee Seung Gi personally addressed the breakup rumors with his girlfriend through a personal letter he published to his own website.
He wrote,
“I think our past year has been a year where we hurt each other and lacked communication [about himself and fans], after so much consideration, I am opening up.
The first reason why I didn’t talk much about this in the middle of all the commosion was because I believed I wouldn’t have clearly been able to convey my words clearly. I thought by doing that, there would be greater misunderstandings and wounds.
Secondly, I feared that what we talked about would be leaked to other outlets or distorted through rumors and it would end up hurting more people and be used as gossip. So I hope you understand why I’ve been silent, despite some of you asking me to clarify my position.
There have been no changes in my position or affairs since last year’s dating news. I didn’t comment further on that part and didn’t feel much need to do that. I am sorry if you were upset by this and I want to comfort you all. Please blame me for my flaws. I ask for your understanding.”
Lee Da In and Lee Seung Gi confirmed they were dating last year, however, their dating news was met with negative response as fans were opposed to Lee Seung Gi dating Lee Da In due to her complicated family history as her step-father was accused of stock manipulation.
One fan even funded a truck asking Lee Seung Gi to break up with her and consider his clean image which they allege was tarnished because he was dating her.
