It was recently confirmed that Red Velvet’s Joy and Choo Young Woo will be leading the new Kakao TV drama “Unexpected Country Diary.”

“Unexpected Country Diary” is a drama based on a web romance novel of the same name by Park Ha Min. It tells the story of a man from Seoul who meets a policewoman when he moves to the countryside. The drama will show the love and healing story of these two characters as they keep each other company in the warm Heedong village.

Joy will play the police officer Ahn Ja Young who has the best social skills and is loved by everyone. She is very friendly and whenever there is a quarrel in the neighborhood, it is all resolved when she intervenes. Unlike Han Ji Yool, Ja Young cares a lot about the small and big things that happen to the people who live in the village.

Choo Young Woo will play Han Ji Yool, a veterinarian from Seoul who has a harsh personality and is not interested in what other people do, he is a principled man who wants to live his life doing his best. He then moves to Heedong village where he finds that life there is not easy and is constantly annoyed by his noisy neighbors. But when he gets to meet Ahn Ja Young, his forgotten emotions will come alive and he will experience new changes in his daily life.

It was previously revealed that Jang Geun Suk and Girls Generation’s Sooyoung were no longer in talks to star in this drama.

“Unexpected Country Diary” will be produced as a mid-form drama with a total of 12 episodes, each episode will be 30 minutes long. It is set to premiere in the second half of this year.
