LE SSERAFIM’s Kim Garam has been embroiled in bullying controversy ahead of her debut and she was asked about it during the group’s debut showcase.

On May 2, the group held their debut showcase and one of the questions asked during the showcase was directed at Garam. When asked the question, the group’s leader, Chaewon held the mic and spoke before Garam, she said,

“Can I speak to you first as a leader?

The company is responding to this issue in accordance with the procedures. Thus, it may not be appropriate to speak directly (on the issue of bullying) here and there are many others things we need to be cautious about.”

Kim Garam then added,

“As she [Chaewon] said, I ask for your understanding that it is difficult for me to say anything about this part.

I will work harder as a member of LE SSERAFIM in the future.”

Prior to her debut, LE SSERAFIM’s Kim Garam came under fire when netizens started accusing her of committing school violence, and various posts about the issue circulated on various online communities.

Source Music says the allegations were ‘maliciously edited’ to slander Kim Garam and contrary to whats been said, they have confirmed through a third-party statement that she was in fact bullied when she was in middle school.

As a result of Source Music’s findings, they stated they would be seeking legal action against the spread of unilateral and distorted allegations and false information related to Kim Garam. They asked netizens to not spread speculative rumors and said such rumors about a minor who has not even debuted yet is very harmful and they’ll do their best to legal action without any settlement or leniency.
