Wanna One won’t attend the 2021 MAMA!

On December 10, the group was busily filming for the rehearsals of their highly anticipated reunion performance ahead of the ceremony today, however, the rehearsal was halted after a staff member of one of the artists was unexpectedly diagnosed with COVID-19.

The rehearsal was immediately halted, and the fans who had been waiting to attend the pre-recording of the performance were sent home. The location was disinfected and everyone else involved in the rehearsal was tested for the virus.

Later, Mnet confirmed that all the members and the rest of their staff had received negative results for their PCR COVID-19 tests. After negotiating, the pre-recording took place at 2:30 a.m. KST on December 11. Fans were asked to assemble again by 1 a.m. KST at the same location as the original pre-recording assembly.

The award show also stated that after checking the movements of the person who tested positive, they didn’t find sufficient reason to cancel the entire concert. However, to maximize safety, Wanna One’s performance will be entirely pre-recorded and they will not participate in the live broadcast on December 11 as a precautionary measure.
