TWICE’s Jeongyeon recent remarks have caused fans to criticize JYP, why?
TWICE’s Jeongyeon recently held a V Live+ broadcast where she chatted with fans and updated them on her health and more. It was a voice-only broadcast.
During the broadcast, one fan brought up her sister’s upcoming drama, the fan asked if she’s gonna make a cameo appearance in the drama, Jeongyeon answered,
“I received quite a few requests, but the company kinda stopped it.”
Fans were pretty upset to hear this, many have long wanted to see Jeongyeon try out acting. Her sister actress Gong Seung Yeon is a popular actress. Fans are upset that JYP turned down the offers, many have also brought up how JYP has always emphasized group activities over solo activities in the group to the point that most of the members of TWICE have little to no solo work aside from group activities.
Gong Seung Yeon is starring in the upcoming drama “Bulgasal” which airs this December.
What do you think of Jeongyeon’s answer?
I just put two and two together who her sister is and that’s pretty cool. That being said, as cool as Bulgasal looks, that wouldn’t be the best project I’d pick for Jeongyeon to positively promote the group. It just wouldn’t be a “fun” cameo for a drama so dark and gritty.
Now THAT being said, I’ve been getting a sneaking suspicion for a while that Jeongyeon hasn’t been that happy with her situation, and even other Twice members, although that’s not truly what her statement conveyed. A good number of them just seem over it which is why I am going to be interested in their upcoming contract renewal. I just don’t see all of them renewing, and I hope that this will be the freedom that the girls are looking for if they want it.
