As time went by, the drama’s popularity increased due to each episode bringing so much action and tension. “Happiness” has only two episodes left and with seemingly so much left to unravel, some fans began to talk about whether the drama might be returning with a second season.

However, a source from tvN confirmed that’s not the case. In a statement to a news outlet, tvN stated that they have never discussed the possibility of a second season for the drama, stating,

Happiness’ has never reviewed or discussed a seasonal system. Therefore, it will end with episode 12 as scheduled.

NOTE: SPOILERS AHEAD

The reason why fans thought a second season might be coming is due to the fact that Jung Yi Hyun got infected. Fans argued there is still so much left that needs to be explained by the drama creators that it only made sense to believe the drama might be preparing for a second season. Some fans also love the chemistry between Park Hyung Sik and Han Hyo Joo and think they didn’t have much room to explore that due to the drama’s premise.

“Happiness” wraps up its run this week.

My personal thoughts- written by Jass K.

Great news. I am happy this drama will only end with one season.

I have been enjoying the drama so much and I have a lot to discuss but I am waiting for the drama to wrap up in order to share my opinion as I need to know the full picture.

I am getting tired of kdramas becoming so similar to western dramas in pursuing a seasonal system. I miss the days when kdramas just ended with one season. I hate to see kdramas end on a cliffhanger without a proper explanation and I don’t find that necessary in most cases either. I am glad tvN never discussed a seasonal system for this one.

There is still so much to unravel with only two episodes left and with this in mind, I am so curious to see how it ends. So excited for this week’s episodes.

  1. I agree with you, for me also the only season is enough because for the story developping, a second season would ruin the rhythm and the climax and the autors are finished the credible plot twist.
For the ending there is a 50%-50%, but this is a genre where the happy ending isn’t obvious.

  2. Pls Make Season 2 I Love To Watch Happiness Season 2 Pls Make Us Another Season Its A Very Good Kdrama The Happiness Happiness Deserves To Have A Season 2 And We Netizens.Deserves Season 2 Im So Dissapointed That There Will Be No Season 2 For Happiness Tsk Tsk Tsk

  3. There should be second season as u know that it’s story cannot just end up there !!!! U can add dozens of twist in the story of it’s second season !!! Just like a terrorist attack or other things like that as this drama is about detective and a cop !!!! If public is already liking it , they will also like to have second season , I am sure about it ( as the drama had only 12 episodes)
