Choi Woo Shik And Kim Da Mi New Drama “Our Beloved Summer” has premiered this week but its ratings aren’t as well as fans had expected.
SBS newest drama “Our Beloved Summer” is taking over the time slot previously occupied by “Lovers of the Red Sky,” but despite the hype, the drama’s premiere ratings turned out to be lower than expected.
According to Nielsen Korea, “Our Beloved Summer” episode 1 scored an average nationwide rating of 3.2%, which isn’t bad for a premiere, however, its second episode ratings fell to the 2% range scoring an average nationwide rating of 2.6%.
For comparison, the drama that previously occupied its time slot, “Lovers of the Red Sky,” premiere ratings were 6.6% and 8.8% for its 1st and 2nd episode respectively.
“Our Beloved Summer” was one of the most anticipated dramas of December 2021, it stars Choi Woo Sik and Kim Da Mi who had previously worked together on the movie “The Witch part 1.” The drama also stars Kim Sung Chul and Roh Jeong Eui.
“Our Beloved Summer” tells the story of two high school students who filmed a documentary during their senior year, 10 years later, the documentary goes viral and the both of them meet again to film another documentary despite not wanting to be there.

That’s shocking. I didn’t expect it to be this low…. Hope it picks up next week.
Personally speaking, I enjoyed “Our Beloved Summer” premiere. I thought it was a cute drama, a bit slow, but its a cute drama. Given the premise, that is to be expected. However, with the hype SBS has been attempting to generate surrounding this drama, I expected a better start, there is a lot of hope it picks up so I hope it does.
“Our Beloved Summer” premiere surprised me with a rather more mature take on the romance tropes of such plots, thus far. A review will come out shortly so keep your eyes on the blog.
