New Historical Drama “Moonshine” Debuts At The Top Spot, “Our Beloved Summer” Sets Personal Best In Ratings

Many new kdramas have premiered this week and the ratings battle is on!

According to Nielsen Korea, the December 20 premiere of “Moonshine” recorded an average nationwide viewership rating of 7.5%. This is a jump from its predecessor, “The King’s Affection,” which ended with 12.1%. Its second episode scored slightly lower ratings with 7.2% but the drama debuted first among the Monday-Tuesday evening dramas.

“Moonshine” is a drama set in Joseon era during a time when the prohibition laws were at their strongest. It tells the love story of Kang Ro Seo (Hyeri), a struggling aristocrat who starts illegally making alcohol in order to support her family, and Joseon’s greatest inspector Nam Young (Yoo Seung Ho).

Meanwhile, SBS’s “Our Beloved Summer” achieved an average viewership rating of 3.7% for its 5th episode and 4% for its 6th episode marking a rise from last week’s ratings. Added to that, these have become the series best numbers to date.

Channel A’s “Show Window: The Queen’s House” garnered an average viewership rating of 5.523% and 6.406% also reaching its personal best record to date.
