JTBC’s “IDOL: The Coup” is failing to capture viewers’ attention and its rating has been dropping with each episode.

JTBC’s “IDOL: The Coup” is a drama that focuses on an unpopular idol group’s last story. The girl group Cotton Candy needs a one-time hit to avoid disbandment. Kim Je-Na (EXID Hani) is the group’s leader, Kwak Si Yang plays the CEO of their agency.

The cast of the drama has some of the biggest idols and actors attached to it including EXID’s Hani, LABOUM’s Solbin, WJSN’s Exy, Han So Eun, and Redsquare’s Green star, Kwak Si Yang, Kim Min Kyu. However, it has failed to rate well, but why?

According to Nielsen Korea, the November 22 episode of JTBC’s “IDOL: The Coup” marked a new low for the drama, rating an average 0.5% nationwide, its lowest rating ever.

JTBC’s “IDOL: The Coup” premiered on November 8 and has a total of 12 episodes only. Some speculate the low ratings could be that the drama airs at 11 p.m. KST which is later than most kdramas.
