Looks like Kim Seon Ho will avoid being charged with penalties from his recent controversy!
Last week, Kim Seon Ho’s ex-girlfriend came out with scathing allegations against him, she accused him of forcing her to have an abortion and of gaslighting her. It ended with Kim Seon Ho’s apology and admission to what she wrote. Subsequently, Kim Seon Ho was dropped from his upcoming projects and lost many of his existing advertisement deals.
Advertisement companies have a clause in their contracts called ‘morals clause,’ this clause becomes the basis of termination and penalty request if the model is involved in a scandal that could negatively affect the brand. Of course, the clause is vague and up for interpretation. The penalty depends on the situation at hand and also varies by the contract period. Generally speaking, an average termination penalty ranges from 200-300% of the initially signed modeling royalty.
This meant that Kim Seon Ho was likely to be penalized millions of dollars for what happened, that was until October 26 when Dispatch released the full record of what they claim to be the timeline of Kim Seon Ho’s relationship with his ex. They exposed her lies in the original post she’s made and much more. This led to the public changing their stance on the entire issue involving the actor with many netizens showing support for him.
Many companies that had previously cut ties with the actor even before he released a statement; began to reinstate his Cfs. According to YouTuber Lee Jin-ho, Kim Seon Ho has reportedly yet to be charged a penalty by any of the companies he advertises for. Since Kim Seon Ho’s issue counts more as a private issue and is not a clear crime or social issue.
