My personal thoughts- written by Jass K.

It’s been a wild ride, 47 episodes, and a year later, what could be labeled one of the most talked-about kdramas in recent memory finished it’s run. Thank you to everyone who has worked hard on this drama, I hope you take some time off and recharge, you’ve done well.

It is sad that the 3rd season couldn’t live up the 2nd or 1st season ratings. This doesn’t mean it was a failure because it wasn’t, but it does tell you what you need to know about stretching a plot needlessly for money. I was expecting the ratings for this season to be much better and I believe I wasn’t the only one who thought they’d be that. It was a broken ending, that’s for sure.

I am still of the mindset that this drama should’ve ended with two seasons, because then, at least it would have ended on a high, both in terms of ratings success and viewers’ satisfaction.

I hope next time SBS greenlights a popular kdrama for 3 seasons, it thinks things through and makes enough preparations as to not rush it or make it pretty apparent that it’s solely a cash grab.

  1. Besides the stupid and illogical plots, especially in Season 2 and 3, Kim So Yeon is over-rated in terms of her acting.

All Auntie Kim So Yeon did throughout the series was to scream loudly, open her eyes wide, hissed when upset, shrugged her shoulders and paced back-and-forth as a show of her anxiety. This is not excellent acting but something that anyone who’s not an actor can do – You can shout and scream loudly, I can shout and scream back louder than you to scare the daylights out of you. Auntie Kim needs to remember this fact.

Auntie Kim So Yeon’s acting is so-so. She needs to show viewers something that viewers cannot do to win viewers’ respect. I did not see anything special or extraordinary in her acting throughout the series.
