Im Soo Jung And Lee Do Hyun have been announced as the lead for the upcoming tvN drama “Melancholia” (literal title).
The announcement came on July 8, tvN shared that Im Soo Jung and Lee Do Hyun are set to lead the upcoming drama.
“Melancholia” tells the story of a corrupt high school with preferential treatment. The drama will tell the beautiful story of a math teacher and a genius math student.
Im Soo Jung is taking on the role of high school math teacher Ji Yoon Soo, she appears good-natured but is very tenacious and stubborn once she makes up her mind about something. She is very passionate about math.
Lee Do Hyun will take on the role of math genius Baek Seung Yoo. He is a quiet guy, he enjoys taking photos with DSLR camera and ranked last place in his high school. Despite that, he’s actually dominated math Olympiads when he was younger, and even entered the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at age 10, and dropped out at age 12.
“Melancholia” is written by Kim Ji Un who wrote “Cheongdam-dong Alice,” “Hyde, Jekyll, Me,” and “Doctor John,” and it will be directed by Kim Sang Hyub of “Extraordinary You” and “True Beauty.”
The drama is set to premiere in the second half of 2021.
My personal thoughts- written by Jazmine K.
ohhh… I was initially excited but now I am a bit worried…
First things first, I just hope that this won’t be about a forbidden love relationship between a teacher and a student. I hope it won’t be romantic in nature because that’s illegal in many places around the world and at best, very questionable.
I was very excited at the prospect of seeing the two actors together but the drama is going to be written by “Hyde, Jekyll, Me” screenwriter… If you watched the screenwriter previous dramas then you understand why I am worried now.
But for now, I trust that Im Soo Jung and Lee Do Hyun have chosen good scripts. Hopefully, this turns out well. Im Soo Jung focuses more on movies rather than dramas and usually, her dramas are superb. Lee Do Hyun choices thus far have also been quite fun to watch.
Good luck to the cast.
