2021 will be a good year for kdramas with tvN set to release some of the most anticipated 2021 kdramas.
tvN has released its kdramas lineup for 2021 and here is what they have in store:
“L.U.C.A.: The Beginning”
The drama has already premiered on February 1. It tells the story of a man named Ji-O (Kim Rae-Won) who has a special power and a secret, but he doesn’t know who he really is. He is chased by unknown people while he attempts to find answers. there is a woman named Goo Reum, a detective whose parents disappeared when she was only a young child. She wants to find truth about their disappearance, she meets Ji O and her life changes forever. It is being directed by Kim Hong Sun (“Voice,” “The Guest”) and written by Chun Sung Il (“My Girlfriend Is An Agent,” “The Pirates“).
Arguably one of the biggest releases of 2021 across the board, it marks Song Joong Ki’s return to TV, it tells the story of an Italian lawyer and Mafia consigliere Vincenzo Cassano, who moves back to Korea after a conflict with his organization members. In Korea, he gets involved with a tough lawyer Hong Cha Young. Together they work on bringing down villains using methods that could be considered unlawful. Its lead by Song Joong Ki, Jeon Yeo Bin, 2PM’s Taecyeon, and Yoo Jae Myung, Jo Han Chul, Kim Yeo Jin, and Kwak Dong Yeon
It is being directed by Kim Hee Won (“The Crowned Clown,” “Money Flower“) and written by Park Jae Bum (“The Fiery Priest,” “Good Manager,” “Good Doctor,” “God’s Quiz“).
The drama was originally scheduled to be released in February but has been pushed back. It will premiere on March 3. It tells the story of A rookie police officer Jung Ba-Reum (Lee Seung Gi) who works at a police substation, he is honest and tries to maintain justice, he comes faces to face with a psychopath murderer who sends fear down everyone’s spines, the murderer changes his life. This will be Lee Seung Gi’s first drama in two years
“Hospital Playlist” Season 2
“Hospital Playlist” is set to return with its second season later this year. It’s led by Jo Jung Suk, Yoo Yeon Seok, Jung Kyung Ho, Kim Dae Myung, and Jeon Mi Do as five longtime friends who work at a hospital together. Each one of the main actors is set to reprise their roles for the second season.
“Navillera” is another anticipated drama that is led by k In Hwan, Song Kang, Na Moon Hee, and Hong Seung Hee, and based on the webtoon of the same name. its about Duk Chool, a man who starts ballet at the age of 70 and the 23-year-old ballerino Chae Rok who gets lost while chasing his dreams. The drama tells the story of growth that people who pursue their dreams go through.
Led by Jang Ki Yong, Girl’s Day’s Hyeri, Kang Han Na, Kim Do Wan, and Bae In Hyuk, it’s another drama based on a webtoon of the same title. It’s a fantasy rom-com about a male gumiho who is 999 years old and a female college student who was born in 1999.
“Doom at Your Service”
Led by Park Bo Young, Seo In Guk, Lee Soo Hyuk, Kang Tae Oh, and Shin Do Hyun, its a fantasy drama about a man who is known as ‘destruction,’ everything he touches vanishes; it’s also about a woman who puts her life on the line to avoid her fate. Park Bo Young will play Tak Dong Kyung, an average editor at a web novel publisher, she lives a normal life until she stumbles upon a strange fate, she puts her life and love on the line. Seo In Guk is taking on the role of the character known as “ruin” or “destruction”, he makes a contract with Tak Dong Kyung. When an unexpected character gets caught up in his fate, he decides to put his love and compassion on the line to save her.
It’s a drama about tough women who wants to escape world’s judgment and find their true selves. It is being written by Baek Mi Kyung (“The Lady in Dignity,” “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon“) and directed by Lee Na Jung (“Love Alarm,” “Fight For My Way“). It stars Lee Bo Young, Kim Seo Hyung and VIXX’s N.
“You Are My Spring”
The drama is being described as a healing romance about people who live in a building where a murder case had taken place, they go about their daily adult lives with seven-year-old selves in their hearts.
Its led by Seo Hyun Jin, Kim Dong Wook, Yoon Park, and Nam Gyu Ri. It is being written by Lee Mi Na, who wrote the drama “Bubblegum” and directed by Jung Ji Hyun (“The King: Eternal Monarch,” “Search: WWW“).
The drama has announced its cast a couple of days ago, it’s being led by Ji Sung, Kim Min Jung, GOT7’s Jinyoung, and Park Gyu Young. It’s a legal drama about turning the court room into a live show to deliver a new message about justice.
Considered one of the most anticipated releases of 2021, it marks Jun Ji Hyun’s return to the small screen in five years, it also starts Joo Ji Hoon and is written by screenwriter Kim Eun Hee (Netflix’s “Kingdom” series, “Signal“).
