aespa is welcoming 2021 with happy news!
On January 17, aespa took home their first music show win with “Black Mamba” on SBS’s “Inkigayo” their title debut track. The group debuted two months ago and is the first girl group from SM since Red Velvet in 2014.
What comes to attention from fans is the fact that aespa is only the fourth group of SM to take a music show win with their debut track and last time it happened, it was with Girls’ Generation 14 years ago.
The first SM group to have gotten their first music show win with a debut song was S.E.S (1998), followed by TVXQ (2004) and then Girls’ Generation (2007).
One of Karina’s goals for 2021 was to win a music show trophy, fans are happy it became a reality. #BlackMamba1stWin was trending on twitter when the news was announced.
