Actress Kim Go Eun has decided on her next project!

On December 31, it was revealed that Kim Go Eun will play the lead in the upcoming drama “Yumi’s Cells” (literal translation). Based on the hit webtoon of the same name. It tells the story of an ordinary office worker named Yumi- from the point of view of her brain cells that control her every thought feeling, and action.

Kim Go Eun is taking on the role of Yumi, an ordinary woman who struggles to express her emotions. She experiences growth in her work and personal life and learns to find happiness in small everyday happenings.

“Yumi’s Cells” will be directed by Lee Sang Yeob who worked on “Familiar Wife” and “Shopping King Louie,” and co-written by “Memories of the Alhambra” writer Song Jae Jung, “Find Me in Your Memory” writer Kim Yoon Joo, and newcomer Kim Kyung Ran.

“Yumi’s Cells” is set to begin filming sometime in the first half of 2021.

My personal thoughts- by Jass K.

wow! We have a lot of webtoon adaptations coming in 2021.

The idea is funny; I am just confused as to why they’re making a live-action adaptation of it… why? Such concept is suited for a cartoon or animation movie, the idea is pretty old and cartoonish, the fact that you have people as cells controlling a human being every move is very… it reminds me of Hollywood in the early 2000s.

Also, I am intrigued by the fact that three writers will be working on this… that doesn’t always happen.  “Memories of the Alhambra” writer Song Jae Jung doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to continuity or sense and after that “Memories of the Alhambra” ending, it took her a while to bounce back, longer than I expected.

I am curious as to how they plan on adapting it to a drama without it becoming comical and childish pretty fast. Such concepts are better reserved for youngsters to enjoy so I am curious about their targeted audience too.
