BTOB Ilhoon is under fire after a report by Channel A has gone viral!
On December 21 broadcast of Channel A news, they reported that according to the police investigation, they have received statements and tracked BTOB Ilhoon’s account to confirm he had smoked marijuana with his acquaintances several times from four to five years ago to last year.
Adding to that, drugs were detected in his hair test and the news channel reported that the police have secured circumstantial evidence that BTOB Ilhoon used virtual currency to purchase marijuana, people use the currency to avoid detection since it’s difficult to track back.
Channel A reported that the police handed over Jung Il-hoon and his accomplices to the prosecution in July on charges of illegal drug use.
According to the report, Ilhoon began serving military in May 28 and there have been questions raised about the time of his service colliding with the time the police handed over the case to prosecution.
Cube Entertainment initially released a brief statement to explain one part of the accusation and it’s the one regarding the military, they stated that he was originally scheduled to join in March but it was delayed due to COVID-19. They also denied they had any knowledge of BTOB Ilhoon being investigated for a drug scandal.
Later, Cube Entertainment came back with another statement to announce that after checking with Ilhoon, they confirmed he was summoned by police for questioning on charges of smoking marijuana as previously reported by Channel A.
Through their statement they conveyed Ilhoon’s apology,
“He feels a heavy responsibility for causing concern to many people and will do his best to participate in future investigations.
Once again, we apologize for causing concern. ”
Jung Ilhoon debuted as a member of BTOB in 2012.
