YG Entertainment has announced their decision to edit out BLACKPINK’s Jennie Controversial Nurse Scene in “Lovesick Girls” music video.
This comes after The Health and Medical Workers’ Union of Korea released a public statement voicing their disappointment with BLACKPINK‘s recent MV, “Lovesick Girls.” They criticized YG Entertainment stating,
“They [YG] sexually objectified nurses in BLACKPINK’s music video.
The nurses are still exposed to overuse of power and sexual assault. The more this image is repeated, the worse the situation gets.”
YG Entertainment responded with an initial statement apologizing for the issue it had caused but explaining that they had no ill intentions with the scene and merely meant to present a line in the music video visually. They also stated that they were considering editing out the scene.
On October 7, YG Entertainment followed with a new statement announcing their decision to edit out the scene completely, they stated,
“while working on the music video for a long time, we didn’t expect this issue to be raised because of the scene since it had no specific intention in it. We feel greatly responsible for this and will consider this a learning opportunity.
We apologize once again to the nurses who felt discomfort and once again express our respect to the healthcare workers who are working hard for the health of the citizens.
