Kim So Hyun has picked a project!
On October 5, it was revealed that Kim So Hyun was cast in the upcoming historical drama “River Where the Moon Rises” (literal title).
“River Where the Moon Rises” is a historical drama about princess Pyeonggang, also known as Yeom Ga Jin, Kim So Hyun is taking on her role. She is an ambitious woman who dreams of becoming the first female to lead Goguryeo. However, her plans come to a halt when she meets a man named On Dal; she is shaken by the new emotions she experiences when she meets him.
The role was previous offered to Son Ye Jin who eventually turned it down. The drama is written by Han Ji Hoon, who previously worked on “Woman of 9.9 Billion” and “Temptation,” and directed by Yoon Sang Ho of “Saimdang, Light’s Diary” and “King Maker: The Change of Destiny.”
Kang Ha Neul is already confirmed to make a special cameo appearance in “River Where the Moon Rises” but the main male lead actor hasn’t been revealed yet.
“River Where the Moon Rises” is scheduled to premiere in the first half of 2021.

My Personal Thoughts
Am I the only one who’s surprised the role was first offered to an actress who is 38 years old but then taken by an actress who is 21 years old? I wonder if they slightly tweaked the script as a result but I found this information interesting.
Kim So Hyun surely loves her historical dramas; she’s been in many across the years. This drama sounds promising but the writer behind this drama also wrote “Temptation” and we all know how that went… The director has worked on some big projects so I am guessing this will have good funding.
Can’t wait for the male lead announcement, I hope it’s an actor around her age. 2021 is looking promising already, you can take a look at the other kdramas airing in 2021 thus far from here.
