“Backstreet Rookie” is back on track.

On July 3rd, SBS drama “Backstreet Rookie” saw its lowest average nationwide ratings since it began airing, the 5th episode became the lowest-rated for the series thus far despite high expectations, but “Backstreet Rookie” seems to have picked up the pace with its 6th episode.

According to Nielsen Korea, “Backstreet Rookie” 6th episode scored an average of 4.9% and 7.9% nationwide, a noticeable increase from its 5th episode.

Meanwhile, “It’s Okay To Not Be Okay” also enjoyed a slight boost in ratings. According to Nielsen Korea, its 5th episode recorded an average of 5.2% nationwide, a slight increase from its 4th episode which aired on Sunday last week.

My Personal Thoughts

Thoughts on “It’s Okay To Not Be Okay” 5th episode

It took me a while, but I am falling hard for “It’s Okay To Not Be Okay.” At first, I was skeptic about it and honestly fell for it with its 4th episode, it took me a while to get there but I have high hopes of this drama now.

I think this will go down as Kim Soo Hyun’s lowest rated drama in a while because it doesn’t come close to how well his other dramas performed, but honestly, I am loving every moment of “It’s Okay To Not Be Okay.”

I think he suits Seo Ye ji so well and the drama is so much fun to watch and its getting more interesting as time goes by.

I was happy with today’s episode but I still wonder if “It’s Okay To Not Be Okay” has enough material for 16 episodes. It’s too early to tell, but I am afraid it will fizzle out as more episodes air.

Thoughts on “Backstreet Rookie”

“Backstreet Rookie” is confusing me and I don’t know how to feel about it so far. There are things I still find annoying in the drama and I usually fast forward any scene including Wookie’s character best friend.

I also find the fight scenes annoying and overly drawn out. It gives the drama a cartoonish vibe and I don’t like it.

“Backstreet Rookie” 6th episode was better than its 5th episode for sure. Still, I wouldn’t call the 6th episode the most memorable, it felt slow here and there. Again, I ask myself, if “Backstreet Rookie” has enough material for 16 episodes.

For some reason, I feel slightly detached watching this drama…. like I don’t really care that much about anyone in particular. The one I feel a bit sorry for is Wookie’s character but the drama doesn’t go deeply enough for me to get emotional invested in any of its characters.

Regardless, I love the fact that Yoo Jung and Wookie are doing so well with their characters. This drama is one of their best perspective performances to date, in my opinion.

I enjoy both Wookie and Soo Hyun, their looks alone are so satisfying and honestly both are doing so well in their respective characters. I can feel their passion and I like that.
