JTBC newest drama “Graceful Friends” is off to solid ratings, could it be the next JTBC hit?

On July 10, “Graceful Friends” aired its first episode taking over the Friday-Saturday time slot previously occupied by “The World of the Married,” the immensely successful drama that broken all ratings records for cable TV. The premiere of “Graceful Friends” was delayed due to COVID-19; it was originally scheduled to premiere in June.

The drama tells the story of several married couples who have been friends for 20 years and how their peaceful life is shaken after a murder takes place.

According to Nielsen Korea, the premiere of “Graceful Friends” scored an average rating of 3.2% nationwide.

Meanwhile, “Backstreet Rookie” ratings took a slight dip for this week’s episodes, scoring average nationwide ratings of 4.8% and 6.6%, a slight decrease from last week’s ratings.

Which one of these dramas are you currently watching?

My Personal Thoughts

We’re half-way through “Backstreet Rookie” so I assume that this will likely be the ratings average it’ll get until the drama wraps up. I’ve seen the 7th episode and my review of the first half will be posted after I see the 8th episode.

I haven’t seen “Graceful Friends” yet, I might update with my thoughts later but I’ve seen the trailers and they looked nice. It’ll be interesting to see if this drama ends up scoring better ratings with each episode. This particular time slot was almost always occupied with dramas that did well in ratings and the dramas picked for this timeslot are usually really good. This is definitely JTBC’s year.
