“Backstreet Rookie” is enjoying a somewhat better ratings with its recent episode.

After starting off with okay ratings last week, the newest SBS drama found itself in controversy over its plot. While SBS didn’t directly address the issue or apologize, the hate around the drama was slowly dying down.

On June 26, “Backstreet Rookie” aired its 3rd episode and according to Nielsen Korea, the 3rd episode scored an average of 4.9% and 6.7%, a definite improvement from last week ratings.

Last week’s second episode first half scored 3.7% marking the lowest for the series thus far, while its second half scored 6.8%.

Could it be that “Backstreet Rookie” will bounce back and score even better with its 4th episode that will air later today?

Fans can’t wait to find out if this will become true or not.

Have you seen the 3rd episode of “Backstreet Rookie” yet? What are your thoughts on the series so far?

My Personal Thoughts

I’ve decided to publish an article about “Backstreet Rookie” once I see 8 episodes of it, by then I’ll have a better understanding of it. However, I must say, its been average at best.

Humor is a tricky thing, and I know I am not the type of person who laughs at anything but I find the humor aspect of “Backstreet Rookie” very mild and weak. I don’t laugh at scenes we’re supposed to laugh at and the ‘jokes’ or attempts at them don’t amuse me as much as I’d them like to.

But aside from the humor part, I think “Backstreet Rookie” is like miles better than “Melting Me Softly.” Its nice to see Wookie play a character that is somewhat naïve and an underdog and I think he’s doing a great job, the same goes for every other actor in this drama.

I get the feeling that Yoo Jung and Wookie feel comfortable around each other, and I like their chemistry more than I ever thought I would. I hope the series does something in the next episodes that will set it apart.

Regardless of my feelings on this drama, I think wookie fans will enjoy it thoroughly, I might be picky but I know many fans will enjoy this one.
