Agust D is back and better than ever!

BTS Suga has surprised fans with the release of his second mixtape “D-2” earlier today; he also released a music video for the title track “Daechwita.”

“D-2” includes a total of 10 tracks with a variety of genres, one particular track caught the attention of fans, Suga talks about military service, a subject they dodged for the most part despite multiple politicians campaigns to grant the members exemption.

The topic has been discussed a lot for the past two years, one politician advocated for a ‘BTS Act’ that would grant top idols military exemption. Big Hit declined to comment on the topic every single time it was brought up.

Back in late 2019, the culture minister of Korea announced its decision regarding the highly debated topic. According to Yonhap, on November 19, the culture minister Park Yang Woo spoke in a press conference with reporters at UNESCO in Paris, he stated,

“In the case of BTS, I personally wish I could allow exemptions for them under certain standards, but the Military Manpower Administration and the Ministry of National Defense (in charge of conscription) are inclined to downsize the overall scope (of exemption)… Unlike classical arts or sports, it is difficult to fix the criteria of the selection in the popular culture and arts fields, which makes it difficult to institutionalize (a waiver system).”

BTS are worth billions for the South Korean economy, which is why many thought it would be better if they were exempt from the military. But not all fans liked the idea because they feared the boys would be hated if they actually took on the offer if the bill was passed.

However, throughout the past two years, ARMY have increasingly expressed their discomfort with their idols names being used for discussing this topic when BTS never personally brought it up or claimed they wanted to be exempt and it seems that Suga shares a similar sentiment.

In one of “D-2” tracks, “What do you think?” he delves into this topic and talks about how feels about his group’s name being used for this, he said,

“We will join the military service on our own when the time comes…. so hope the assholes who tried to join the bandwagon by selling our names as a whole will shut up.”

The powerful line was discussed a lot among ARMY who finally got to hear how Suga feels about his group name being constantly dragged into this.

  1. such a shame…hahaha exemption pweeeee… accept the fact..your fandom called ARMY but you cant even enter the military voluntarily..having a strong name and a strong BACK UP really puts you up high..but be carefull fall out is more painful…and that would be a satisfying scene i want to watch..
