Park Shin Hye is considered one of the biggest hallyu representatives and her road to fame was a long and difficult one. She started out as a child actress and slowly climbed the ladder to become who she is today.
Park Shin Hye is known for being a private person who doesn’t open up much about her childhood, fans finally got to learn more about her past as a child actress thanks to March 7 episode of JTBC “Knowing Brothers.”
Park Shin Hye made a guest appearance to promote her upcoming movie “Call,” and had lots of things to talk about.
During the show she was asked whether it had always been her dream to become an actress, she explained,
“No. My original dream was to become a police officer, not an actress.”
She further elaborated on the reason,
“When I was in the first grade of elementary school, our house was robbed. Back then, my mom had around 800,000 won in her wallet, and the robber took all of it. I was young at the time and when I thought about how much it was, I thought ‘you could buy a lot of jellies and snacks with that.’
With that innocent mindset, my dream was to become a police officer from the first to the sixth grade.”
Park Shin Hye then explained that her life changed with an audition for Lee Seung Hwan’s music video, her teachers at the church, who were huge fans, sent her photo on her behalf. She didn’t make the cut but was instead offered to work as a child actress.
She also opened up about her family’s struggles to help her achieve her dreams, she said,
“My family was facing financial difficulties at the time, but they moved with me to Seoul and left everything behind.”
Park Shin Hye was asked about what types of jobs her father did after he moved to Seoul; she said he used to drive a taxi, sold insurance,
“He had a difficult time. Both of my parents worked so hard.”
