It’s been unfortunately confirmed, X1 has officially disbanded!
The agencies of X1 members have announced the decision today, the group will be disbanding.
Ahead of the announcement, it’s been reported by various news outlets that representatives from various companies of X1 were meeting today in Seoul to discuss the future of X1. Mnet told Star Today that they’re set to meet the agencies to negotiate X1 future, they refused to comment on the exact time and place of the meeting.
Fans had been hoping for the best but that didn’t pan out.
On January 6, X1 agencies released the following statement to the press:
This is Play M Entertainment, Yuehua Entertainment, TOP Media, OUI Entertainment, MBK Entertainment, Woollim Entertainment, DSP Media, Starship Entertainment, and Brand New Music.
The X1 members and each of the agencies have tried to negotiate an agreement unanimously, but we couldn’t come to one, so we have decided on the disbandment of the group.”
The short statement came as a shock to fans, and later, CJ ENM released a short statement confirming the news stating they respect the agencies position and decision to disband X1.
This marks the end of X1, a project group by the last season of the survival infamous series by Mnet that has been under heavy scrutiny following the vote manipulation controversy. It’s been previously revealed that the entire lineup was decided on before the final episode had even aired.
Fans have been trending the hashtag #WeTrustX1 to express their sadness and disappointment with the news.
