A couple of hours ago, it was revealed that Red Velvet Wendy sustained serious injuries after falling from the stage during rehearsals for 2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon.
She sustained injuries to her face and fractures in her pelvis and wrist on the right side of her body. Some of these injuries will require up to a couple of months for a full recovery, this happened two days after Red Velvet successful comeback, the girls were set to promote their comeback but SM Entertainment revealed they will explain what will happen to their promotions when everything becomes more clear.
SBS released an apology after fans trended hashtags demanding an apology on Twitter, however, their apology was poorly received.
Here is the translation of SBS apology:
“On December 25, there was an unfortunate incident during rehearsals for 2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon that led to Red Velvet’s Wendy sustaining injuries.
We sincerely apologize to the fans and viewers because Red Velvet is unable to make it to the live performance of the show.
We hope Red Velvet Wendy will get well soon, and SBS will pay special attention to safety management in the future.”
Fans didn’t like how the apology was directed at fans rather than Wendy herself who suffered greatly due to the poor precautions SBS took. Some fans who asked staff of the event reported that other idols refused to perform at that specific stage where Wendy fell. SBS is being heavily criticized for their apology by both K-netizens and international fans.
apparently fans of other artists (twice, chungha) also noticed their own faves were uneasy due during their prerec bc of the stage. the least these roaches could do is release an apology not only for RV but the others they could have put at risk #SBS_사과해 #가요대전_사과해

Now is it just me, or is the first person they should* direct their apology to is towards Wendy, not the fans
If it was a stage issue, its their fault. It appears TWICE also had issues with stage safety
This seems like quite a poor apology, it’s more directed towards the fans https://t.co/q9R4Ts9XKQ

you still didn’t explain what happened and why are you apologising to the viewers and fans who are not able to attend the gayo. wendy was the one who got injured you are supposed to apologise to wendy are you even serious this is an extremely poorly executed apology #SBS_사과해 pic.twitter.com/SLHRLVAnGr

the fact that sbs didn’t give any explaination and apology when they clearly at fault for letting that accident happen as they didn’t take better precaution measure to ensure the safety of all artists but still gonna air the pre-recorded performance. so shameless. #SBS_사과해

Do you think SBS apology was enough?
