SBS has returned with an official longer apology after last night’s incident involving Red Velvet Wendy.
As previously reported, Red Velvet’s Wendy suffered serious injuries while rehearsing for 2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon, SBS had released an initial response that was very short only aimed at the fans, they apologized for disappointing them.
SBS was heavily criticized for their short response and for not apologizing properly to Wendy whom they’ve caused serious injuries that will require months to heal.
Earlier today, Dispatch released a detailed report about the incident, they interviewed a staff member who said that the incident could’ve been easily prevented with better precautions which added to the fury of fans who were upset by how lacking SBS was and how little attention they paid to the idols performing on stage.
But it wasn’t only Red Velvet fans who were very upset, fans of groups like BTS, MONSTA X, NCT, ITZY, and others were also upset, these groups had members who either fell or slipped whilst performing on stage. SBS had also reportedly instructed idols to go up the same stairs Wendy fell from earlier that day.
On December 26, they returned with a second apology to Wendy, her group, and her family, they stated,
“We wish to apologize once again regarding [2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon].
During the rehearsals for Gayo Daejeon on December 25, an unfortunate accident occurred. SBS wishes to once more sincerely apologize to Red Velvet’s Wendy, who was injured, as well as her family, the members of Red Velvet, and fans.”
SBS explains that Wendy’s recovery is above all else, the director of SBS entertainment division and the staff have been working closely with SM after the incident occurred,
“We’re doing our best to get her the proper treatment.”
They also explained that the staff blocked off the area and called for emergency police after the accident occurred. SBS began an internal investigation into understanding what exactly went wrong, and they plan on taking greater care to ensure such an incident won’t occur again.
They repeat again,
“Wendy is currently undergoing treatment and examination at a hospital in Seoul. SBS promises to do our best to work with Wendy’s family and the medical staff to ensure her quick full recovery.
Once again, we would like to sincerely apologize to Red Velvet’s Wendy and her family.”
However, the second apology came a little too late according to many fans, Wendy has suffered greatly due to SBS and their apology does little to subside the public anger with them, many netizens continue to heavily criticize SBS for this incident.
