SuperM American debut is not doing as well as many had expected!

As of October 4 [the day of SuperM debut], their title track “Jopping” entered the Global Spotify at number 145 with 823,184 streams. Despite having plans to conquer the US market, “Jopping” is nowhere to be found in the US Spotify charts.

On a more positive note, SuperM Album was able to land at #1 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart.

The boys are currently busy promoting for their American debut, they’re set to kick off their North American tour on November 11 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, tickets are currently on sale.

SuperM is one of a kind project group consisting of members Taemin of SHINee, Kai and Baekhyun of EXO, and NCT’s Taeyong, Mark, Ten, and Lucas.

  1. ‘What went wrong?’ It’s a terrible song, that’s what. I expected so much more from SM. Taemin, Baekhyn and Kai are such strong performers and personalities and did not deserve to be grouped with Ten, Taeyong, Mark and Lucas. They don’t have nearly enough experience for something like this. And I’m just gonna be honest. Besides looking good, I’m not sure what Lucas’ talents are. This whole thing seems like a huge mess to me and it’s sad because with a few lineup changes and a better song, this could have been really good. If they cut NCT from this, I believe they’d have a much better result. Just my two cent opinion.

    • Ha! Lucas was hired w no experience at try outs by simply walking like a model and I believe one of his looks was to throw his jacket over his shoulder. That’s it, hired. He’s a decent rapper but has little experience. He’s definitely not on “Avenger” level. I think SM threw him in bc he’s HOT. seems like that wasn’t their only error…

    • I get that you’re not a NCT fan but yikes couldn’t you have been a little nicer? That was rude…”did not deserve to be grouped with them”?? I get the not enough experience thing but SM knows how popular these members are especially overseas…but i do agree with the fact jopping was not it (but not because of NCT members, but because it was just not a well-made song regardless if who was singing it)

    • When you watch the interview and listen to the reaction of the fan you would see that most of the fan reached to NCT member and wayv members more than the others so any idiot would know that it was a smart move since exo and shinee both have not really tour in the USA their fan base would not be has big has NCT who has a bigger fan base than the two older groups i do think that lucas talent is a little mediocre but doesn’t every group have that one dude and fyi teayong and mark are freaking great rappers and dancers

  2. That project was doomed to failure from the very beginning! SM should focus on what they’re good at instead of creating some sterile avengers type combo. They’re badly neglecting their artists and fandoms. Don’t imagine for a moment that either can be fooled into thinking this was a good idea. The Avengers of K-pop?! Could they have come out with a more egotistically pathetic and delusional nickname?! I’m sorry for the boys who were forced into this farce. So much money and talent gone to waste!

  3. The reason why it turns out this way is because SM is too stubborn. They underestimate the fans, they thought the members of the groups like EXO and SHINee are getting older and the fans will not longer be there for them. But still, SM need their popularity, so they formed this combination, SuperM. You can see the fans from respective fandom only want to support particular members in SuperM. SM makes a big mistake this time, even they try hard to promote SuperM to appear on The Ellen Show or what others.

  4. I’m a fan of all 3 (4 since NCT had 2 units involved) groups. I was trying to be supportive of SuperM until I heard they’re touring. That takes away from groups that didn’t need change, who have been and are currently popular and thriving. Both EXO and NCT127 were nominated on MTV VMA. So, what now? The other groups just wait?? They took key members!!

  5. Jopping just wasnt it…i liked the verses more than the chorus but it wasn’t something outstanding that has never been done before…the song and mv was literally EXO’s Tempo and a mix of NCT and EXO’s style, things we’ve heard and seen before (no hate to either group I love both of their styles and their music I’m just saying it’s been done before) The slogan “avengers of kpop” just makes SM sound desperate

  6. I get that you’re not a NCT fan but yikes couldn’t you have been a little nicer? That was rude…”did not deserve to be grouped with them”?? I get the not enough experience thing but SM knows how popular these members are especially overseas…but i do agree with the fact jopping was not it (but not because of NCT members, but because it was just not a well-made song regardless if who was singing it)

    • Guys pls don’t criticize them. The songs were very good. But sm introducing them straight to US market was wrong. It didn’t work for any K-pop group until now. It’s not they were not good. So please support the boys they work very hard. Just don’t put hateful Coments and as a team they are good. I support for all members. But I’m a exol.

  7. Don’t you people think that this is just a marketing strategy? Jesus Christ. They start of with an odd song making fans and haters listen to it, later, they post their opinions. SM, Kai, Baekhyun, Taemin, Mark, Taeyong, Lucas and Ten reads those and will find a way to make better songs based on all of the comments. Not everything is perfect in the beginning. Lucas is a great dancer, you all can STFU.

  8. K what we’re not gonna do is bash other members of the group. They all have their own strengths and lucas is the most charismatic member and a strong dancer and he raps and has a decent singing voice. Obviously his vocals aren’t as strong as the rest because he’s a rapper. He also has the most viewed fan cam out of any member in NCT. Check out NCT U BOSS LUCAS FANCAM and u can see how good of a performer he is. Jopping might not be the best we’ve heard but the rest of the songs on the album are bops

  9. I honestly liked the song. I already bought four albums and I’m attending the concert at the Dickie’s Arena. I will support them this is only their debut there’s more to come! Fighting! 🙂

  10. As a Kpop song it’s ok as an American song…I’m sorry but I’m not seeing it. I was honestly expecting something more and don’t get me wrong they all have their own individual talents but I feel like it just didn’t really work together. I am a fan of all of them but this wasn’t it no disrespect just my opinion. Who knows maybe in the future we’ll see some growth but for now sm needs to figure this out to really make it work. No hate though I want them to succeed I really really do.

  11. I think SM don’t care abt the market… if this group not as big as their expected, they just milk their Fanatic Fans money to buy things abt that group (Bcs they know the fans will buy anything abt the group). Just like they do with their most profitable group.

  12. Guys pls don’t criticize them. The songs were very good. But sm introducing them straight to US market was wrong. It didn’t work for any K-pop group until now. It’s not they were not good. So please support the boys they work very hard. Just don’t put hateful Coments and as a team they are good. I support for all members. But I’m a exol.

  13. Guys please don’t leave hateful comments. The songs were very good. Your comment may hurt fans. They are good. Sm mistake is that they took them straight to US market. None of K-pop group until today succeed straight which went to US market. So only it seems to be like that. But they are very good group. They have succeed in fans heart . It not about the group or song. It is the strategy of Sm which went wrong. I support all.

  14. This is a marketing strategy by SM. They put their best idols up in Super M. People will look at each of those idols from their original groups, which gives their albums exposure. Brilliant marketing. I would.love to see the stats on their (WAVy, EXO, NCT, SHINee and Taemin’s solo stuff) views on youtube and the comments, spotify, itunes and more. I bet they all increased. 7 of them came over to the USA, which I am sure are making money from concert tickets and their original band members will get money from the streaming services. So, even if SuperM tanks, their main groups still received massive exposure second hand.
