TWICE “Feel Special” MV views in the first 24 hours shocked fans!

TWICE is doing extremely well on Korean and international music charts with their newest release “Feel Special.” However, the same cannot be said about YouTube views which have been lackluster at best in comparison to their previous releases.

TWICE “Feel Special” MV was released on September 23 at 6 pm. KST, 24 hours after it’s been released it received 14.7 million views which is a huge drop from their previous release “Fancy You” views in the first 24 hours. They had previously received nearly 40 million views in the first 24 hours with “Fancy You.”

Its important to point out that these are not the final verified views since YouTube continuously checks for views validity in the first 24 hours especially if there is a lot of interest in a certain video or if fans are streaming.

Despite all of that, ONCE are still disappointed with the number of views.

It is known that JYP usually promotes their artists comeback MVs upon their release on YouTube. If you’re an avid Kpop fan of JYP artists you’ve probably already stumbled upon an ad of a JYP artist new release while browsing YouTube at least once.

ONCE think they know the reason behind the huge drop in views. Not too long ago, YouTube announced that they would implement changes to views calculation method after an Indian artist beat BTS record for the most viewed music video in the first 24 hours. The artist publicly stated that he used paid ads to help increase his MV views. More about this here.

From now on, even if JYP decides to implement ads to promote their artists, any views through those ads in the first 24 hours won’t count.

What do you think of this?
