Fans are still upset about the sudden PRISTIN disbandment announcement!

On May 24, 2019, PRISTIN agency announced that the girl group has officially disbanded. Nayoung, Roa, Yuha, Eunwoo, Rena, Xiyeon, and Kyla have all terminated their contracts with the agency while Kyulkyung, Yehana, and Sungyeon remained with the agency.

The announcement took some fans by surprise, others weren’t as surprised because they have been anticipating it due to PRISTIN inactivity.

Regardless, the question that lingered the most was ‘what happened to PRISTIN?’ And for the first time, we get to hear the real reason from former PRISTIN member Kyla.

She recently opened a YouTube channel and asked her fans to submit their questions for #teatimewithkyla on twitter and Instagram. She went through a couple of fan questions.

She talked about not regretting becoming an idol, she said,

“I have absolutely no regrets when it comes to becoming an idol, like I understand that due to the disbandment that there could be this misconception that I wouldn’t want to become an idol again or I would just not do it if I could turn back time, and that’s definitely not true.

Like, I loved the amazing experience that I had, I loved being able to get to know the Korean culture and history a bit better, and I think that it’s really important.

And I think that, um, even if I had to redo all of it, good and bad, I would definitely do it.”

Towards the end of the video, she answered the most requested question, ‘what happened to PRISTIN?”.

Here is her answer:

“I know that a lot of you guys are anxious to hear my answer. And… What I can tell you is that a lot of things happen behind the scenes that you guys are unaware of. And ultimately, we all came to the decision.

We all came to this mutual agreement that it would be best if we all went our separate paths.

We all have our own callings and we thought that at this point it would be best if we went in our separate directions.

And while our time as PRISTIN is, was incredibly meaningful, it was important that we sort of branched out and try different things this time.”

Kyla also cleared up speculations that she went on hiatus due hateful comments she received,

“And also, a lot of you guys have sort of speculated why I went on hiatus and I can tell you now that it wasn’t because of the hate comments, it wasn’t because you know of, my weight and how that affected my mental health.

I can understand why you would say that but, in actuality the reason why I went on hiatus is because I ended up getting injured. I got a concussion while filming our second music video, and the doctors and my company decided that it would be best if I took a period to rest and recover from this injury.

They all thought that it was important that I fully recovered before we continued on with any new promotions. So that’s the reason, and let me just say that I know that there have been a lot of rumors, there have been a lot of speculations, there are a lot of been, there have been a lot of articles that sort of went around. Saying oh, this is what happened or oh, this is what happened and let me just tell you. That’s not true.

You guys can speculate what happened all you want, but ultimately, we all just thought that it was best if we disband it and although it is an unfortunate situation, we all take our best memories and our best experience from PRISTIN. And we’re just, we’re all so very grateful that it happened and we had all of these amazing experiences together, and I think that that’s the most important part. You know, it was a very positive experience all around, and I’m gonna never trade it for the world. So, please do not listen to any rumors.”

What do you guys think of her answer? Do you miss PRISTIN?

  1. But she didn’t give a proper answer to WHY they disbanded? She only said that they decided together that bc it the situation (what situation) it was better to disband. . .
