Ahn Jae Hyun lawyer Bang Jung Hyun could face disciplinary action for violating the Attorney-at-Law Act!

About a week ago, lawyer Bang Jung Hyun disclosed to the public something that violates laws in South Korea. He stated that since he helped out the whistleblower in Jung Joon Young chatroom case, he can assure the public that Ahn Jae Hyun was in no way associated with him.

He stated,

“I found a conversation with a 3rd party in July 19, 2016, he said, ‘it’s been a year since I’ve seen Jae Hyun Hyung.’”

However, that statement can be considered a violation of the Attorney-at-Law Act. News outlet Money Today reports that lawyer Bang Jung Hyun usage of Jung Joon Young chatroom case to refute claims that Ahn Jae Hyun is associated with him, is a violation.

In this case, if an attorney uses files of another case to another separate case, this can be considered a violation of the duty to maintain confidentiality.

Lawyer Bang Jung Hyun first received the chatroom data from an anonymous whistleblower and handed over the raw data to the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission. These data were transferred to the prosecution and are being used as evidence in court. Some believe that he kept a copy for himself before handing it over.

Since there is no precedent of this according to the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, it is difficult to make judgment in such case.

Stay tuned for updates!
