Korean Actor Kang Ji Hwan has been arrested by the police!

He was apprehended at his home in Gwangju on July 9 at 10:50 p.m. KST. According to various news outlets reports, the actor took home two female employees (hereinafter referred to as “A” and “B”) to have more drinks at his home following a company dinner.

Later, it was reported that he went into the room where the two women were sleeping and proceeded to rape ‘A’ and assault ‘B’.

‘A’ had previously texted her friend in Seoul and told them that she had drinks with the actor and that they were trapped, she also asked the friend to report it. Thus, the police showed up at his home.

The actor told police that he doesn’t remember anything because of the drinks he’s had earlier that night. Police told news outlets that he was still intoxicated while being questioned so another round of questioning will be held later.

Police also refused to reveal further details as it’s an ongoing investigation. ‘A’ told police that she was sleeping when she was sexually assaulted.

According to ‘A’ who gave her testimony to the police, she witnessed the actor attempting to sexually assault the other victim ‘B’ while they were sleeping in his home.

She says she woke up and saw what was going on next to her and screamed when she did that the actor stopped his attempts. She told police her clothes were everywhere leading her to believe she suffered the same fate hence the police were called in.

It is also being reported that ‘B’ gave testimony based on what she remembers as well and it is said that the two women are in agreement on their testimonies (meaning they didn’t contradict each other).

The girls were sent to the Seoul Sunflower Center where they will undergo examinations and testing for sexual assault. Results take about a week to come out.

At first, news outlets reported that the two females were part of his company but later, news outlets are reporting that they were outsourced employees.

The actor is currently starring in TV Chosun drama “Joseon Survival” and as expected both his agency and the drama found out through news reports.

For now, this week’s episode will not be airing and there will be no reruns as well. A source from “Joseon Survival” told news outlets that they have to wait for a response from the production company.

His agency later released an official statement apologizing for the unfortunate news. They explain that they realize the severity of this incident and will take responsibility for not managing their actor properly.

However, they declined to comment on the investigation outcome so far as it’s an ongoing investigation. They also revealed the actor’s activities have been canceled and he will diligently participate in the investigation.

It was also reported that he hired a lawyer.

Stay tuned for further updates!
