Red Velvet Joy was faced with a scary situation during outdoor performance.
On May 11, Red Velvet performed at the 2019 Iseul Live Festival, towards the end of one performance fireworks went off, while other members were fine Joy was extremely startled and visibly shaking, as the fireworks continued she ran away to the backstage and in fear put her hands over her ears so she wouldn’t hear the noise.
Her members and staff soon followed to check up on her.
The video clip went viral and fans began sending good messages to Joy, many asking if she’s doing well.

Joy then took to Instagram to unexpectedly apologize to her fans. She wrote,
“Luvies.
I am posting this to say I am sorry. I am scared of fireworks and have been so after a firework exploded in front of me in the past. I didn’t expect it today.
On top of that, I heard ringing in my ears and I went in without saying goodbye to you. I am sorry. I am fine now and I am sorry to have worried you.
I want to do well on every stage but whenever an unexpected moment comes I can’t seem to cope professionally and I dislike myself for that.
I will make every effort to prevent this from happening in the future. I am sorry.”
