It’s official. Unfortunately, Pledis Entertainment girl group PRISTIN has disbanded, the agency confirmed in an official statement to the press.

On May 24, news outlets reported that the group has disbanded after discussions with the members and the agency; they had ultimately agreed to disband.

Later, Pledis Entertainment released an official lengthy statement confirming the group did disband. Nayoung, Roa, Yuha, Eunwoo, Rena, Xiyeon, and Kyla have all terminated their contracts with the agency while Kyulkyung, Yehana, and Sungyeon remain with the agency.

Here is their official statement:

“Hello. This is Pledis Entertainment.

First, we would like to thank all the fans who cared and loved PRISTIN.

We would like to deliver our official position regarding the disbandment of PRISIN and the contracts termination of the members.

After having long in-depth discussions with the members for a long time, we came to a mutual agreement. It has been decided that with the exclusion of Kyulkyung, Yehana, Sungyeon, the seven remaining members (Nayoung, Roa, Yuha, Eunwoo, Rena, Xiyeon, and Kyla) terminated their exclusive contracts as of May 24, 2019.

We would like to apologize to fans first who have always showed support for the group and for delivering the unfortunate news.

We have had a long time to carefully think the matter through and we decided to respect the wishes of the members and came to the conclusion of the disbandment and the contract termination.”

In their official statement they announce their intentions to fully support the remaining members Kyulkyung, Yehana, and Sungyeon activities, they explained they plan on supporting them wholeheartedly so they can lead a successful diverse active career.

In their statement, they expressed their gratitude to the members who will leave the agency and asked fans to show their unchanging support towards all the members who will be embarking on a new journey.

The news was heartbreaking to fans who had been demanding a comeback for the group.

PRISTIN was the first Pledis girl group since After School. They debuted with 10 members, two of which (Kyulkyung and Nayoung) used to be part of I.O.I. They debuted in March of 2017 and only released two mini albums and even went on to win the rookie award at 2017 MAMA. Later, a subunit called PRISIN V debuted in May of 2018, it had been almost two years since the full group released something together.

Wishing you all the best!

How do you guys feel about this?

  1. Honestly all of us saw this coming… It was just a matter of time.
I am happy because of the girl’s disbandment because pledis proofed that they treat their girl groups like shit and I don’t want to see them like this any longer. I hope that all of them still can go on with their carreers because they have the talent to attract the attention of the public. Pristin Hwaiting
