Ji Chang Wook has finally picked his first drama project since his military discharge!
On April 30, it was confirmed he would lead the upcoming tvN drama “Make Me Melt” which he was in talks with ahead of his discharge.
“Make Me Melt” is a sci-fi romantic drama about a man and a woman who participate in human freezing experiment for 24 hours but they wake up 20 years later due to a mysterious incident.
One of the side effects of the experiment is that they have to maintain their body at a temperature of 31.5 degrees Celsius. They also find themselves getting romantically interested in each other and end up in a sticky situation.
Ji Chang Wook will play the role of Ma Dong Chan, a PD of a variety show who undergoes the experiment. He’s logical and cold when it comes to work but sweet and passionate when it comes to love. He creates hit variety shows.
“Make Me Melt” is written by Baek Mi Kyung who worked on many hit dramas such as “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” and “Woman of Dignity.” It’ll be directed by Shin Woo Chul who worked on many hit dramas as well such as “Secret Garden.”
The drama is scheduled to air in the second half of 2019.
Who’s excited about this drama return?
My Personal Thoughts
I am super excited, I need a confirmed air date like right now!
However, I am a little skeptic because it’ll be written by Baek Mi Kyung. She wrote “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” and it was the ultimate cringe-fest, it was sweet but cliché and filled with so many cringy scenes it was a struggle. The psychopath made it tolerable but it was still filled with many of these moments.
I knew that Ji Chang Wook was not coming back with an action drama that’s because he said so himself previously in interviews, he was tired of having to maintain a strict diet for his roles, I don’t blame him.
I am a bit worried but these are only my initial thoughts crafted right in this moment. The script idea is fresh and sweet, I expect a lot of cute scenes and I honestly can’t wait to see who gets paired with him, just pleeeeeeeaaaassse not an idol actress who can’t act.
I suggest Park Shin Hye or Park Min Young again. The possibilities are limitless. Can’t wait to find out who’s the lucky female lead.
